Society grows great when old men plant trees under whose shade they shall never sit

Greek Proverb
THE SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEOPLE & TREES IS AT THE HEART OF KFT'S WORK
SOME OF THE THINGS OUR COMMUNITY VALUES ABOUT OUR WOODS....
"it is an irreplaceable environmental and community resource", "that you can walk and explore them", "the aesthetic value as well as the habitats for wildlife", "the trees", "the woods provide a valuable link with the past and the future", "their diversity", "without trees we would be without half/most of our species of both flora & fauna"

The Community
Community involvement is integral to what we do.
The population of Knoydart is around 110. At the time of the community buyout only 60 people lived here.  Inverie is home to the majority of folk and there are settlements around the coast.

KFT Board
KFT directors are elected by the community members of KFT. The current directors are:
Jim, Fiona, Iain, Andy & Lewis who are all members of our community and Megan who is an experienced forest manager.

The board meet every 2 months.

Staff & Volunteers
KFT employ 4 full-time workers - foresters - Grant and Ian, assistant forester - Josh and manager - Lorna, and 1 part-time forestry worker - Danny.  We also take on several local subcontractors for specific pieces of work.
Volunteers help us with work around the woods.  We have fantastic local volunteers who join in with regular events and JMT work parties who visit every year.
